Louisiana SR22 Insurance Quotes & SR22 Information
In Louisiana if a driver's license is suspended, cancelled, or revoked that driver may be required to file and agree to maintain an SR22 insurance policy for a minimum period of three (3) years before a license reinstatement can be completed.
Such violations can include, although are not limited to:

What happens at a Louisiana administrative hearing?
You will need to schedule your administrative hearing within 10-15 days of a violation ticket and/or an arrest to avoid an automatic driver's license suspension, revocation, or cancellation.
A Louisiana administrative hearing is defined as: "an unbiased proceeding conducted by Administrative Law Judges under the Division of Administrative Law (DAL) to review a customer's (driver) disputed proposed suspension and/or revocation (cancellation) by the Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV)." (Source: DPS Louisiana)
Scheduling your administrative hearing is just part of the process in getting your driving privileges reinstated. It is recommended that you contact an experienced attorney in your area to discuss the charges against you and the options your particular case may have.
All administrative hearing requests will need to be postmarked no later than:
- 10 days from a notice of a violation.
- 15 days if there was a [chemical] test refusal.
- 30 days if there was an accident or insurance cancellation.
Below are some of the other issues that the administrative hearing will cover:
- Did the Officer have reasonable grounds to initiate the police stop?
- Did the driver refuse to or voluntarily submit to a [chemical] test when asked by the Officer?
- Was the driver arrested?
These and other issues will be covered in the administrative hearing. For a complete list of issues covered download and read Louisiana's Administrative Hearing Policies.
Note: Attorneys offer a free initial consultation to learn about your case and this gives you an opportunity to learn about an attorney and their experience as well. Given the complexities of an administrative hearing it is recommended (it's also your right) that an individual have legal representation at an administrative hearing.

License Renewal FAQ's
What if I fail to maintain my Louisiana SR22 insurance policy?
Remember: Your insurance provider is required by law to notify the Louisiana OMV that a driver's SR22 insurance coverage has lapsed and an immediate license suspension, revocation, or cancellation is possible.
Failure to maintain a SR22 insurance policy can bring some additional and costly penalties, such as:
- If a driver is unaware of a license suspension and gets pulled over, that driver might face a charge of driving on a suspended license.
- Additional license reinstatement fees and possibly a higher SR22 insurance premium
- An extension of the time required to carry an SR22 insurance policy
- Additional time in jail depending on the reasoning for the lapse in coverage
What can I do as a driver to avoid a lapse in my SR22 coverage?
Pay your SR22 insurance premium weeks before it is due. We recommend 60 days in advance. At times this can be difficult, however, not paying your policy premium on time brings the real possibility of additional out of pocket expenses and a longer period to maintain an SR22 policy. It is just not worth the risk!
