New Jersey SR22 Insurance Quotes & SR22 Information
New Jersey has a minimum period of three (3) years that a driver, who has been convicted of certain crimes, may have to file and manage an SR22 insurance policy.
Offenses, if convicted, that may require a driver to get SR22 insurance may include:
- DUI (Driving Under the Influence)
- Second or subsequent DUI depending on when the first offense occurred
- No proof of insurance
- Vehicular homicide
- Leaving the scene of an accident with or without injuries
Furthermore the accumulation of smaller offenses, such as speeding, racing, etc., has the potential to become large enough that a driver may be required to carry an SR22 insurance policy.
Please check with a MVC Office near you or a New Jersey DUI Attorney for more information.

If you are renewing your suspended, revoked (canceled) license you will need to serve any suspension period before getting your license restored.
After the suspension period you will receive a "Notice of Restoration" in the mail that you will need to take to a New Jersey MVC Location, you may also need to pay a fee and submit other documents in order to complete your license reinstatement.
Does New Jersey have any driver improvement classes that I can take?

Does New Jersey have an Ignition Interlock program?

What are New Jersey's minimum liability requirements?
- $15,000 coverage for bodily injury or death of any person per accident
- $30,000 coverage for all persons in any one (1) accident
- $5,000 coverage for property damage per accident.
What if I fail to keep my New Jersey SR22 insurance policy current?
The fees and penalties associated with failing to keep your SR22 insurance current may include:
- Paying more out of pocket fees to get your license reinstated again
- Paying for a driver improvement program
- Getting a ticket for driving on a suspended license and/or failure to show proof of valid insurance
- A possible jail term
- Getting your SR22 insurance period extended/ increased
Furthermore insurance companies are required to notify the MVC when a lapse in coverage has happened. Once the MVC has been notified they usually suspend that driver's license and send out a letter in the mail stating that suspension.
This gap between when the suspension happened and the driver knowing about the suspension can put a driver at risk of operating a motor vehicle without a license and/or proper insurance.
It's always easier to take the public transportation when you want to, not when you have to. Please avoid having a lapse in your SR22 insurance coverage, the penalties are just too expensive.
What can I do to avoid a lapse in my New Jersey SR22 insurance coverage?
We recommend paying your SR22 insurance policy premium 2 months in advance. However this decision is up to you. If for any reason you think you may be late on paying your premium please contact your insurance provider to see what they can do. It's easier to ask for help now before it's too late.
