Nevada SR22 Insurance Quotes & SR22 Information
Nevada has certain offenses that may require a driver to file and maintain an SR22 insurance policy for a minimum period of 3 years.
Offenses, if convicted, that fall into this category could be:
- DUI (Driving Under the Influence)
- Failing to provide valid proof of vehicle insurance
- Failing to stop and render aid in an accident
- Felony evading with a motor vehicle
- Negligent homicide
These are only a few examples of convictions that may result in a driver having to file and maintain an SR22 insurance policy for three (3) years. Past convictions, if any, or a clean driving record can make a difference in how any new convictions are treated.
Additional information can be found about these convictions and others by contacting a Nevada DMV Office or a Nevada DUI Attorney in your area.

How can I get my license reinstated in Nevada?
If you are eligible (follow the online link to see the qualifications) then you should be able to renew your license online.
If you do not qualify for the online registration, it is possibly due to:
- Your license was suspended or revoked (cancelled)
- You were required to complete a Driver Training course or DUI school
- You were required to attend Alcohol Treatment classes
- You had a jail sentence
- You need a Ignition Interlock Device installed in your vehicle
You will need to make sure these conditions (criminal charges) are satisfied first before you can start the process of getting your license reinstated.
It would be beneficial if you knew the status of your drivers license before starting the reinstatement process. You can find this information by requesting a copy of your Nevada Driving Record.
Reinstatement procedures and requirements will vary depending on the offense. We highly recommend that you contact a Nevada DMV Office near you or by:

Does Nevada have an Ignition Interlock Device program?
Yes, however information about this program is challenging to find.
Typically a driver that needs an IID will receive that order from the court. It is the responsibility of the driver to have this installation completed by one of Nevada's Certified IID vendors. It is also the financial responsibility of the driver to pay for all fee associated with an IID. For example:
- Installation of the device
- Maintenance fees
- Monitoring fees
- Removal fees
Nevada has approved various IID's from many manufacturers to be used in a driver's vehicle, if so ordered. This list does not contain any manufacturer contact information, please call a Nevada DMV Office as there may be more procedures required of a driver than are listed.
Does Nevada have a restricted license?
Yes, a restricted license may be obtained after a driver has at least half of their license suspension or revocation (withdrawal) period served. Drivers will need to fill out the form starting on the second page of Nevada's Restricted License Application form.pdf
Does Nevada have a DUI school that I may have to attend?
Yes. These schools are DMV-certified DUI schools and are usually court ordered as a condition (plea bargain or sentencing) in the process of a license renewal.

What are Nevada's minimum liability requirements?
- $15,000 coverage for bodily injury or death of any person per accident
- $30,000 coverage for all persons in any one (1) accident
- $10,000 coverage for property damage per accident.
What if I fail to keep my Nevada SR22 insurance policy current?
By law the insurance companies have to notify the DMV when a driver has had a lapse in insurance coverage. The DMV usually suspends the driver's license and sometimes does so without a whole lot of notice to the driver.
This situation could put the driver with a suspended license in a position of being cited for:
- Driving on a suspended license
- Driving without proper insurance coverage
This could be a worse case scenario for a driver or it may not. Keep in mind though that it is a possibility that neither of us wants to see happen.
Additional charges and penalties due to driving on a suspended license/no insurance might be:
- Having to pay for license reinstatement fees, a driving school (possibly), IID's, etc.
- Possibly having to serve a jail sentence
- Your vehicle being impounded (which will cost money to get it out of the impound)
- Your vehicle registration might get revoked
In short, don't let your insurance lapse for any reason. Contact your insurance provider if you are having a hard time meeting the SR22 insurance payment deadline before it's too late. They just might be able to help.
What can I do to avoid a lapse in my Nevada SR22 insurance coverage?
The easiest way is to pay your SR22 insurance premium as far in advance as you can. We suggest about two (2) months, however this is entirely up to you and your budget.
Remember by paying in advance you will certainly avoid any additional charges and penalties that will almost definitely cost you more time and money.
